New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 57th convocation of IIT Delhi on Saturday and presented degrees and medals to students. He remarked that students are not just leaving IIT with degrees, but with big dreams and new responsibilities. Over 3,000 students attended the ceremony, including 587 PhD scholars. The Prime Minister told the students that their time at IIT is a lifelong treasure. The journey from orientation day to the convocation has been a crucial part of their lives. He urged them to fully embrace this moment and emphasized that these memories will only grow in importance as they move forward.

Modi said that IIT Delhi has become like a second home for many students. The hostels, time spent with friends, competitions, mess food, and favorite places on campus have become a part of their lives. He also mentioned the teachers, professors, and support staff of the institute, saying that the relationships formed with these people will forever be a part of the students’ success stories. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of continuous learning in the face of rapidly changing technology and industry. He said that it is difficult to predict what the next 20 to 30 years will be like. In such times, only those who are always ready to learn new things and constantly seek solutions to changing circumstances will be able to thrive. Modi stated that this learning is the greatest contribution of IIT.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister also remotely inaugurated the AI-based high-performance supercomputer “Param Pragya,” built at IIT Delhi’s Sonipat campus. This supercomputer is considered an important step towards promoting high-performance computing and AI- research in the country.

Under the National Supercomputing Mission, 37 supercomputers have been installed in the country so far, and all are operational. These have been installed in various major research institutes across the country, including IITs, IISc, NITs, C-DAC, and IISER. These include supercomputers like PARAM Siddhi from Pune, PARAM Praveg from IISc Bangalore, PARAM Shakti from IIT Kharagpur, PARAM Sanganak from IIT Kanpur, PARAM Seva from IIT Hyderabad and PARAM Shivay from IIT-BHU Varanasi.

The Prime Minister’s message during the convocation ceremony focused primarily on the future of the students, continuous learning, and carrying forward the experiences gained from IIT into their future lives.
