At the same time, everyday tasks like paying electricity and water bills can also be done through mobile. In this, the Rajasthan government has started e-Mitra WhatsApp Service through which citizens can avail the benefits of many government services sitting at home.
You will get the benefit by just sending a message on WhatsApp
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma launched this new service on July 1, 2026, during a major e-governance program. The government has released the official WhatsApp number for this service, 9461062705. The special thing about this is that people will not need to download any new app to use this facility. Citizens can currently avail 27 types of government services by sending messages to this WhatsApp number from their mobile phones. These include facilities like caste, domicile, and income certificates, as well as paying electricity and water bills.
Relief from office visits and long queues
It has been revealed that this government initiative will most benefit people living in rural and remote areas. Previously, even minor government tasks required visits to e-Mitra centers, often spending time in long queues. In such situations, providing services through WhatsApp could save people both time and travel expenses. This step is also considered important in making government services digital and more readily available.
Preparations to digitize more than 600 services
It is currently seen that over 600 services are being provided through e-Mitra in Rajasthan. In the next phase, the government plans to bring 100 of these most important services to the WhatsApp platform. This will further expand the scope of handling government work through mobile.
Additionally, the government is preparing to engage 25,000 youth and women as mini e-friends. These individuals will help deliver government services door-to-door via mobile phones. A new IT policy is also being prepared for the state, which is expected to promote digital governance and IT investment.
