A dedicated Disney World Resort enthusiast who has been to the famous park a remarkable 48 times has warned Brits about a common mistake he sees visitors make time and time again.
Walt Disney World Resort in Florida is one of the most popular family attractions and holiday destinations, drawing an average of 50 million visitors every year, although last year it surpassed 76.7 million. Around a million of those were British holidaymakers who jetted off to the Sunshine State last year to experience the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, with interest only expected to increase.
Yet, amongst the excitement for travellers who have splashed out thousands on a trip to Florida, the last thing you want is to be caught out at the theme park entrance gate and to be denied entry. And it could be a real threat to sabotaging your trip, as a Disney World Resort expert said he sees visitors constantly being caught out by the same blunder.

“I’ve seen people in arguments at the gate because you might have paid thousands of dollars for your resort and ticket, but if the park has filled up and you didn’t reserve a park for that day, you’re out of luck,” Mark Patterson exclusively told the Express. “You’re going to have to go to another park.”
Matt, who has been to Florida’s Disney World Resort a whopping 48 times in the last six years for work and pleasure, explained: “Many of the days, you still have to reserve the park you’re going to, even if you’ve bought a ticket.
“And a lot of people don’t know this, but the park can fill up to full capacity. So you may have a ticket, you can go in, but you have to reserve the park for that day. Disney wants to know where you’re planning to go for that day because they’ve got to manage the crowds.”
The expert urged visitors to download the Disney World Resort app to check park availability and plan their day accordingly. “You’ll see on the app the calendar, and it will say ‘most parks available, all parks available, or no restrictions’, so that’s pretty important to do.”

He also warned that some parks may close at different times or have restrictions in place due to events, so he also encouraged people to use the app to check for “special event nights when the parks will be closed.”
Matt said: “It’s the same when they do a Halloween or Christmas party event, and those are separate tickets. They typically start at 6pm or 7pm, so if you were going to Disney for the day, you might have a park ticket and go to the Magic Kingdom. But if you don’t buy that special event ticket, you usually have to leave the park at 6pm.
“So, you wouldn’t be able to stay at the Magic Kingdom until 9pm or 10pm when it’s going to close after the fireworks, you’d have to leave earlier. And if you want to stay, you would have had to buy that extra ticket, which is either the same price as a regular ticket or more.”
Matt also warned that there may be other nights when Hollywood Studios or Magic Kingdom might close early due to another event. “They can close for special events at night, and people might not realise that.”
