Now, comedian Samay Raina has also contributed to the relief efforts. He donated 10 lakh rupees to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Significantly, after his contribution, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma himself thanked him on social media.

Money Sent to Relief Fund

Samay Raina transferred 10 lakh rupees to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to help flood-affected people. The Assam Chief Minister’s Office shared the information on X and confirmed his contribution. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also thanked Samay. He praised the comedian for his support of relief efforts amid the difficult situation in Assam.

Flood Crisis in Assam
The flood situation in Assam has been severe this year. Millions of people have been affected by waterlogging in many parts of the state. A large number of families have been forced to evacuate, while the administration is carrying out relief and rescue operations. It has been reported that 100 people have lost their lives in flood- incidents this year. Approximately 1.55 lakh people are still suffering from the floods.

Samay and Assam’s Old Controversy
Samay Raina’s name previously made headlines in Assam due to a controversy. In 2025, an episode of his show “India’s Got Latent” sparked controversy over objectionable dialogue. In the case, Assam Police filed an FIR against Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahabadia, and several others.

Now, a year later, after Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised Samay’s contribution to the relief fund, social media users brought the old case back into the spotlight. Many people responded to the Chief Minister’s post, urging him to withdraw the FIR filed against Samay. One user wrote, “Please withdraw the case against Samay Bhai, sir.” Another user simply wrote, “Please withdraw the FIR.”

Many stars have come forward to help
Amid the Assam floods, not only Samay Raina, but many other stars have also extended a helping hand. Actor Kartik Aaryan has contributed ₹1 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Randeep Hooda visited flood-affected Sivasagar and met with the people there. Bhumi Pednekar has also reached Assam to join the relief efforts.
