Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Masjid Eidgah dispute, police and administration in Mathura have tightened security after social media posts calling for a Kar Seva on August 9th went viral. To maintain peace and prevent any law and order situation, police have issued red card notices to 12 prominent saints and religious leaders, including storyteller Thakur Devkinandan, Sadhvi Ritambara, and Swami Sachchidanand Maharaj.

The police have clarified in the notice that if any activity attempts to disrupt law and order, strict legal action will be taken against those involved. Intelligence and social media cells have also been activated.

Social media post escalates after viral

A social media post by Dr. Swami Sachchidanand Chitragupta Maharaj, the head of the Shri Chitragupta Peeth in Julendi, Radhakund, calling for a Kar Seva on August 9th, went viral. The post called for unity for the liberation of Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi.

After the post quickly spread and the names of other saints surfaced, the police administration took the matter seriously. Following this, the police department initiated preventive action and increased surveillance in sensitive areas.

What did the red card notice say?

The notice issued by the police stated that a poster and tweet inciting society under the guise of religious sentiments had gone viral on social media by Chitragupta Peethadhishwar Dr. Swami Sachchidanand Chitraguptaji Maharaj.

The notice warned against any activity in and around the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi area that could impact law and order. Police stated that legal action would be taken if such activities were ignored.

Alert due to announcement of Jalabhishek at Shahi Masjid Eidgah

The police administration’s vigilance was further heightened following the announcement of Jalabhishek at Shahi Masjid Eidgah on Saturday, ahead of the conch shell blowing for the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Mukti Andolan. After receiving the letter from the Rashtriya Hanuman Dal, police forces were called in from other districts as a precautionary measure.

Police and administration conducted flag marches in sensitive areas and appealed to the public to maintain peace and order. Officials also attempted to persuade organization officials to stay away from the event, citing law and order concerns.

The Idgah Complex remained under police surveillance

Police and administrative officials kept a close watch on the Shahi Masjid Idgah Complex throughout the day on Saturday. People entering the complex were questioned. Police personnel stationed at the gates did not allow those who lacked identification or a valid reason for entry.

During this period, extra vigilance was maintained regarding security arrangements to prevent any untoward incident.

The Rashtriya Hanuman Dal postponed the event

Later, National Organization General Secretary of the Rashtriya Hanuman Dal, Tarun Kumar Gupta, issued an official letter announcing the postponement of the proposed Jalabhishek Kar Seva program at the Shahi Masjid Idgah.

The letter stated that the event has been postponed for the time being, keeping in mind the large crowd and maintaining peace. According to the organization, the next date for the event will be decided after the end of the month of Sawan, after consultation with saints and sages.

Administration also cautious about the announcement of stone carving

Earlier, Swami Sachchidanand Maharaj, the head of Chitragupta Peeth, had announced that he would sound the conch shell and begin stone carving work for the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Mukti Andolan on August 9th.

For this purpose, the first consignment of pink stones was also ordered for Chitragupta Peeth from Banshi Paharpur in Bharatpur, Rajasthan. Following this announcement, police and administrative vigilance was increased.

While the administration has heaved a sigh of relief after the Jalabhishek Kar Seva was postponed, security and surveillance arrangements are being maintained due to the sensitivity of the situation.
