A children’s throat lozenge has been recalled after metal pieces were discovered in the product.

Key-Sun Kids Honey & Eucalyptus and Acerola lozenges have been pulled from sale across Australia amid fears they could contain metal fragments.

The throat lollies are marketed for children and are typically used to soothe sore throats. They were sold through pharmacies and chemists.

The product was also available to customers online.

The recall applies specifically to batch 0072, which has a use-by date of June 2028.

Consumers have been warned that food products containing metal can cause injury or harm if consumed.

“If a small metal wire is present, this could result in a child cutting their mouth,” Key-Sun said.

“If any pieces of metal are swallowed by a child, this may result in damage to the digestive tract and present a choking hazard.”

Anyone who has purchased the affected lozenges is being advised not to use them and to return the product to the place of purchase.

Customers who have concerns about their health after using the product should seek medical advice.

The recall is particularly important for parents and carers who may have purchased the lozenges for children to help relieve symptoms of a sore throat.
