Big B has been its face since its inception. Except for the third season, Amitabh Bachchan and KBC’s relationship has remained constant for the last 26 years. Viewers see his style of asking questions and his interactions with the contestants in every episode, but very few people know about the way Big B prepares for each episode behind the camera. In an exclusive conversation, KBC director Arun Sheshkumar has revealed many interesting aspects to Amitabh Bachchan’s working style and his energy.

According to Arun Sheshkumar, despite 26 years having passed, Amitabh Bachchan’s working style remains the same. He arrives on set the morning of a shooting day and first consults the script. The beginning and end of the show are scripted, while the rest of the episode progresses based on on-the-spot conversations with the contestants. This is why it’s crucial for him to understand each contestant.

The director explained that the team doesn’t know in advance who will ultimately end up on the hot seat. Therefore, before each episode, profiles and life stories of about 10 potential contestants are prepared. Amitabh Bachchan carefully reads all these profiles and tries to understand the contestants’ lives. When someone reaches the hot seat, Big B tailors the conversation to their story and struggles. This quality makes him not just a TV host but an artist who connects with the contestants.

According to Arun Sheshkumar, another great quality of Amitabh Bachchan is his ability to instantly understand the body language and nervousness of the person sitting in front of him. If a contestant is stressed or unable to express themselves openly, Big B first tries to put them at ease. He builds their confidence through conversation and then encourages them to share their story.
