A year ago, there was considerable interest when Liam Delap completed a £30 million move to Chelsea from Ipswich.
The England forward had caught the eye during Chelsea's 2025/26 pre-season and scored twice in the club's 4-1 home win over AC Milan.
But Delap endured a difficult campaign last season, managing only two goals across all competitions.
The 23-year-old had not found the net since early January, when the Blues beat rivals Fulham 2-1 in the Premier League.
Delap finally brought that dry spell to an end on Sunday, converting a well-taken penalty against Malaysian side Johor Darul Ta'zim.
Xabi Alonso's team had fallen 1-0 behind after 14 minutes before Delap equalised from the spot.
The overdue goal could now give Delap a timely boost in confidence in front of goal ahead of the 2026/27 season.
