Indian Cricketers To Create New Records SL vs IND: The two-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka is set to begin on August 15th. In this series, which is crucial for the World Test Championship, several Indian players will have the opportunity to set special records. Captain Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav will be eyeing major achievements.

Gill has the chance to score the most centuries

Shubman Gill can become the batsman with the most centuries in the current WTC cycle by scoring a century against Sri Lanka. Gill currently has five centuries. With one more century, he will surpass England’s Joe Root.

Gill also has the opportunity to set a major record as Indian Test captain. If he scores two centuries in the series, he will have eight centuries as captain, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record of seven. Gill has scored six centuries so far as captain.

Jadeja Closes to a Big Wicket Count

Ravindra Jadeja has a great opportunity to reach 350 wickets in Test cricket. Taking just two wickets in two Tests against Sri Lanka will take him to this milestone, making him the fifth Indian bowler to achieve this feat. Anil Kumble, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kapil Dev, and Harbhajan Singh have already achieved this feat.

Jadeja also has a chance to set a major record in the India-Sri Lanka Test matches. He has taken 33 wickets in seven Tests against Sri Lanka. With four more wickets, he will surpass Ishant Sharma’s 36-wicket mark and enter the top five on this list.

Just One Wicket Away From Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav is also just one wicket away from a special record. Taking one wicket against Sri Lanka will bring him to 250 international wickets in Asian conditions. He has so far taken 249 wickets in 141 innings in Asia at an average of 24.14. Kuldeep’s role in the Test series will also be crucial.

Gill has a chance to surpass Bedi

Shubman Gill could surpass Bishan Singh Bedi as captain. India has played nine Tests under Gill’s captaincy, winning five and losing three. Meanwhile, under Bedi’s captaincy, India won six of 22 Tests. If India defeats Sri Lanka 2-0 under Gill’s captaincy, they will surpass Bedi in terms of wins.

The India-Sri Lanka Test series, starting August 15th, will be significant not only in terms of the WTC but also for several major individual records. Now it remains to be seen which of Gill, Jadeja, and Kuldeep achieves these milestones.
