New Delhi, August 8, 2026: An Indian Air Force (IAF) wing commander has been arrested by the Delhi Police on charges of leaking sensitive defence information in a honeytrap. The officer, who was caught in a honeytrap, is accused of leaking several confidential information. The police have registered a case under the Official Secrets Act. The Air Force wing commander is currently in judicial custody. According to Delhi Police sources, the case points to a large espionage network aimed at gathering strategic military intelligence.

Alleged sending sensitive documents through digital means

Police sources said that the accused officer was posted in a field unit. A woman trapped the accused in a honeytrap through social media and started talking to him on video call. According to sources, the woman had asked the Air Force officer for information on military movement and troop deployment, as well as photos, videos and other sensitive data. Police sources said that the Wing Commander had sent the sensitive documents and data to the woman through digital means.

The officer was arrested on the night of May 31 after the IAF’s Intelligence Wing provided specific information to the case to the Delhi Police. After investigation, a chargesheet was filed in the competent court on 30/07/2026 and the case is currently under consideration.

Indian Air Force reiterates ‘zero tolerance’ policy

On the other hand, the Indian Air Force reiterated its ‘zero tolerance’ policy for such crimes under the Official Secrets Act. IAF officials said, “The arrested Wing Commander was under active surveillance and was handed over to the appropriate law enforcement agencies. He was apprehended due to proactive measures. The IAF has zero tolerance for such activities.”

Victim of honeytrap by Pakistani intelligence operatives

According to sources, the IAF officer was allegedly the victim of a honeytrap set up by Pakistani intelligence operatives. He is also accused of installing data-stealing software in the mobile phone of a colleague in an attempt to gain control over the device. Sources said that the IAF Intelligence Wing shared important inputs to the case with the Delhi Police, following which the officer was arrested. Further investigation is underway. It is worth mentioning that Pakistani intelligence agencies are using honeytrap weapons to trap Indian Army, Air Force and Navy officers and soldiers, so there is a need to be extremely vigilant.

Rajasthan Police said that after ‘Operation Sindoor’, a surveillance operation was being conducted in the state. Police said that the accused was allegedly trapped in a honeytrap by a female Pakistani handler named Isha Sharma, who offered him money in exchange for cooperation. He said that he was in touch with Pakistani handlers through social media platforms for the last two years.
