This was the batting situation on the final day
More than victory or defeat, this match was important for the Indian players to get good practice. The Sri Lankan XI provided a good challenge in the first two days. But on the third day, the Indian team completely dominated. The Sri Lankan bowlers, especially with the bat, were unanswered. The biggest relief for Team India was the return of captain Gill. Gill, who was injured the day before the match, didn’t take the field for two days. He provided good practice on the third day, scoring 44 runs.
Jaiswal also overcame his first innings failure to score 61 runs. Pant, meanwhile, abandoned his aggressive approach and focused on spending more time at the crease. He opened his account on his 22nd ball and managed only 28 runs in his 68-ball innings. Ravindra Jadeja also proved his worth with the bat once again.
