Pune. A private company training aircraft crashed near the Baramati Airstrip in Maharashtra’s Pune district on Sunday. No casualties were reported. The accident occurred around 12:30 p.m., according to the police.

What did the Pune Superintendent of Police (SP) say about the accident?

The Superintendent of Police (SP) stated that an aircraft (VT-SEX) left the runway at the Baramati Airstrip during a training exercise. Captain Chirag Shashikant Doifode and Cadet Abhijit Jundre were on board. They were practicing circling and emergency landings.

The SP stated that the aircraft failed to stop completely during the exercise. It overshot the end of runway 29 and went off the paved surface. He stated that no injuries were reported in the accident.

A plane crash also occurred seven months ago.

Nearly seven months after the death of Ajit Pawar, the then Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, in a similar accident, another plane crash has occurred in Baramati. In January, five people, including Ajit Pawar, died in a plane crash near Baramati Airport. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar, his personal security officer and assistant, along with two cockpit crew members, were on board the plane: pilot-in-command Sumit Kapoor and first officer Shambhavi Pathak. His Learjet 45 aircraft crashed during a second landing attempt on January 28.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), which is investigating the accident, is expected to submit its final report by January next year. Previously, on May 13, another training aircraft belonging to a private company crashed in Baramati. No one was seriously injured in the accident. Only the trainee pilot on board survived the crash. The accident occurred near Gojubavi village, adjacent to the Baramati Airstrip area. Just before landing, a portion of the aircraft struck an electric pole.

An official stated, “According to initial information from eyewitnesses, the aircraft was flying at a very low altitude when it experienced a technical malfunction. During the crash landing, a portion of the aircraft reportedly struck an electric pole and then hit the ground.”
