World U-20 Athletics: India finishes 27th with 3 medals

Oregon. India finished 27th in the medal table at the 2026 World Athletics Under-20 Championships with three medals. India failed to win any medals on the final day, finishing with two silver and one bronze.

Ashish Yadav won a silver medal for India in the javelin throw. Basant Kumar Meghwal then won a silver medal in the men’s high jump, while Shahnawaz Khan won a bronze medal in the men’s long jump, giving India its third medal.

Basant Kumar Meghwal’s silver medal was India’s first medal in the men’s high jump at the World Under-20 Championships. Shahnawaz became the first Indian male athlete to win a medal in the men’s long jump.

The United States topped the medal table, winning a total of 18 medals, including 12 gold, seven silver, and five bronze.
