This week surrounding Independence Day is expected to bring significant hardship to many states across the country. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy and torrential rains will occur across much of the country between August 10th and 15th. If you are planning to travel, be sure to check the weather in your state, as heavy rains in many areas could completely disrupt normal life.

What will the weather be like in Jharkhand and Bihar?

Regarding Jharkhand, the Meteorological Department predicts light to moderate rain in most parts of the state from August 10th to 15th. However, a severe alert has been issued for particularly heavy rain in several parts of the state on August 13th.

Meanwhile, the weather in Bihar is also expected to be no less severe. According to the IMD, heavy rain is expected in most parts of Bihar on August 10th and from August 13th to 15th, which could lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas.

Clouds wreak havoc in Eastern India and the mountains

Regarding West Bengal and Sikkim, heavy rains could wreak havoc in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on August 14th and 15th, while heavy rains are expected in Gangetic West Bengal from August 12th to 14th. In Odisha, continuous rain will continue from August 10th to 15th.

The situation appears even more serious in the hilly states. Himachal Pradesh is expected to experience widespread rain from August 10th to 15th, with a severe warning for heavy to very heavy rain on August 10th, 11th, and 12th to 15th. Uttarakhand is also under an alert for heavy rain accompanied by lightning and thunder from August 10th to 15th, with extremely heavy rainfall expected on August 10th. Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Muzaffarabad will also experience heavy rainfall between August 10th and 12th and 15th, with isolated extremely heavy rainfall expected on August 11th.

Situation in the Plains and Uttar Pradesh-Rajasthan

Delhi, Haryana, and Chandigarh will experience widespread rainfall on August 10th, 11th, and 13th, with isolated heavy showers expected. Punjab is also expected to experience heavy rainfall on August 10th, 11th, 13th, and 14th.

Regarding Uttar Pradesh, heavy rainfall is expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh on August 10th, 13th, and 14th, and in western Uttar Pradesh on August 10th, 13th, and 14th. Regarding the weather in Rajasthan, widespread rainfall will occur in eastern Rajasthan from August 10th to 13th, with a special alert for very heavy rainfall on August 10th and 11th. Rainfall is expected in western Rajasthan on August 11th and 12th.

Heavy Warning in Central India and Northeastern States

In the Central Indian states, eastern and western parts of Madhya Pradesh will experience heavy rainfall from August 10th to 11th, with a red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall issued on August 10th. Heavy rainfall will continue in Chhattisgarh from August 10th to 13th and 15th. Vidarbha (Maharashtra) is also forecast to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on August 10th.

In Northeastern India, Assam and Meghalaya will experience heavy rainfall between August 10th and 15th, with a strict warning for extremely heavy rainfall on August 14th and 15th. Arunachal Pradesh will experience widespread rainfall from August 12 to 15, with very heavy rainfall expected on August 14 and 15. Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are also expected to experience heavy rainfall from August 12 to 15.

Active Monsoon in South and Western India

Continuous heavy rainfall will continue in Konkan and Goa in western and southern India from August 10 to 15. The Gujarat region is expected to experience heavy rainfall from August 10 to 12 and heavy rainfall on August 11, while Central Maharashtra and Marathwada are expected to experience thunderstorms on August 10.

Kerala, Mahe, and coastal Karnataka will experience widespread rainfall from August 10 to 15, with strong winds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour expected on August 10. Apart from this, light to moderate rain with strong winds and lightning is expected in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema during August 10 to 13.
