Heavy overnight rainfall triggered a flood-like situation in several parts of Dehradun, with rivers and streams overflowing and waterlogging reported across the city.
Residents living along riverbanks and in low-lying areas faced severe difficulties.
Three houses along the riverbank in Chanchak, Kargi, collapsed due to continuous rain, triggering panic among residents. In Chandrabani, rainwater spilt onto roads, creating flood-like conditions and entering several homes, causing damage to residents' property.
Waterlogging was also reported from other parts of the city as rising water levels in rivers and streams raised concerns among people living in vulnerable areas. Residents have been advised to remain alert amid the continued rainfall.
According to the District Emergency Operations Centre's morning report, Kalsi recorded the highest rainfall at 116 mm, followed by Vikasnagar at 68.5 mm, Doiwala at 49 mm and Mussoorie at 12 mm.
Rain also disrupted road connectivity, with four rural motor roads in the district being closed. The road at kilometre seven of the Langha-Matauli motor road, under PWD Dehradun's construction division, was expected to reopen by 11:30 AM, while the other affected roads had been reopened by the concerned departments.

According to the IMD alert, some areas are likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall over the next 2-3 hours, with intense to very intense spells of rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Dense cloud cover over Dehradun indicated the possibility of rain across the state capital and adjoining areas.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Dehradun has said that light to moderate rain and thundershower conditions are expected over most parts of Uttarakhand. On August 10 and 11, rains will occur at most places, and the heavy showers will continue in the hilly districts over the next few days, IMD said, though rain in the plains of Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar is expected to become quite scattered.
The IMD also issued an alert warning that heavy to very heavy rainfall would likely occur at isolated places over the districts of Dehradun, Bageshwar, Nainital and Champawat. These districts are also likely to receive thundershowers accompanied by lightning and extremely intense spells of rain on August 10.
A low to moderate risk of flash floods has also been identified in several watersheds across Bageshwar, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi. Surface runoff and water inundation may occur in low-lying areas.
