Just before the Bankipur by-election, Tejashwi Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) suffered a major setback when party spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari resigned from primary membership. He alleged that the party has lost all respect for its workers and that complaints are not taken seriously. He alleged that Tejashwi Yadav is surrounded by people who are eating away at the party like termites. Tiwari stated that one cannot continue in politics while being humiliated. This is why he has decided to leave the RJD.

Mrityunjay Tiwari was considered a trusted confidant of not only Tejashwi Yadav but also his father Lalu Prasad Yadav. This is why he held important responsibilities such as party spokesperson and media in-charge for the past decade. However, he has now caused a political uproar by linking his resignation to humiliation. He also accused some leaders of ruining the party.

These allegations become even more significant given that Tejashwi Yadav’s elder brother, Tej Pratap Yadav, has previously recounted the story of Jaichand numerous times. His sister, Rohini Acharya, has also accused some leaders of ruining and insulting the party.

There’s no respect for workers like me in the party: Tiwari

Mrityunjay Tiwari said in a video, “Today, I have resigned from all posts in the Rashtriya Janata Dal. Today, in the presence of state president Mangani Lal Mandal and several senior leaders at the party office, I clearly stated that there is no respect for a dedicated and loyal worker like me in the party anymore.”

Tejashwi also ignored the complaint

He further said that despite repeated requests, no senior leader took cognizance. “We even complained to opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav several times, but he too did not take cognizance.” For a dedicated and loyal worker like me, there’s no justification for remaining in this party, because no one can engage in politics while being insulted.

‘Some people ruined the party’

Mrityunjay Tiwari further stated that he supported the Rashtriya Janata Dal during its difficult times. In 2014, National President Lalu Prasad Yadav entrusted him with the responsibility of spokesperson and media in-charge. He discharged his responsibilities well and furthered the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s policies. However, there are some people within the party who, like termites, have destroyed the party. If Tejashwi ji is surrounded by such people, then it’s not appropriate for workers like him to remain in the party.
