Manchester United are still searching for a left-back who can eventually take over from Luke Shaw.
The England defender started every Premier League match last season, but because of his patchy injury history, it is no surprise that INEOS are unwilling to rely fully on him staying fit for the coming campaign.
Newcastle’s Lewis Hall remains the ideal target, but with the Magpies holding firm, a move in this transfer window is looking more and more unlikely.
The Sun has now reported that the Red Devils have turned their attention to Club Brugge left-back Joaquin Seys.
United, 20-time English league champions, are not alone in tracking the player, with Arsenal and Aston Villa also weighing up a move for the 21-year-old.
The Old Trafford club have already made an enquiry over the Belgian international’s availability after carrying out extensive scouting.
Club Brugge are expected to ask for £30 million for the highly-rated youngster, especially as he signed a fresh four-year contract in 2025.
“Manchester United and Arsenal are among several clubs chasing Club Brugge left-back Joaquin Seys. And Seys is also attracting interest from the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle, as well as Portuguese giants Benfica and Porto.
“SunSport understands that Man Utd, Arsenal and Aston Villa have all lodged enquiries about Seys’ availability following extensive scouting.
“Club Brugge are under no pressure to sell, with three years still left on Seys’ contract. And the Belgian club are set to demand €35million (£30m) for their rising star.”
Last season, Joaquin Seys registered five goals and eight assists across all competitions, and his performances helped him earn a place in Belgium’s World Cup squad.
INEOS should not face any difficulty in meeting the asking price, but it is widely known that the co-owners prefer players who are already proven in the Premier League.
It is still unclear whether they will push ahead for the gifted full-back or decide to move for someone like Antonee Robinson instead.
