Meerut: On Sunday, in Sivaya village, Uttar Pradesh, a picture of humanity and brotherhood captured everyone’s attention. When a Muslim youth’s funeral procession to the cemetery became difficult amid a large crowd of Kanwariyas on the Delhi-Dehradun highway, devotees of Lord Shiva stepped forward to clear the way.

young man died of heart attack

Nizam, 40, a resident of Sivaya village, suddenly fell ill on Sunday. According to his family, he died of a heart attack. Afterward, the family began preparing to take his body to the cemetery for burial.

The village cemetery is on the other side of the highway. At the same time, a large crowd of Shiva devotees was passing on the Delhi-Dehradun highway during the Kanwar Yatra. Getting the funeral procession across the road became a major challenge for the family.

Brotherhood emerged as soon as the police arrived.

The villagers informed the police about the incident. Daurala police station in-charge Suman Kumar Singh arrived at the scene with a police force. When the funeral procession reached the highway in the presence of the police, the pilgrims present there became aware of the situation.

After this, some devotees, without waiting for instructions, stepped forward and took the initiative to stop the crowd. They signaled the other devotees to wait for a moment so that the funeral procession could cross the road safely.

Kanwariyas formed a human chain

Some pilgrims stood on the highway, holding hands, forming a human chain. Thousands of pilgrims remained peacefully there. The funeral procession was respectfully escorted across the highway and taken to the cemetery.

Only after the funeral procession had completely crossed the road did the pilgrims resume their journey. Afterward, the devotees of Shiva, chanting “Har Har Mahadev,” departed for their destination.

Praise for the initiative being taken in the area

The locals have praised the Kanwariyas’ initiative. They say this incident exemplifies religious harmony, humanity, and mutual respect. Blocking the road for a short time amidst the massive crowds to respectfully allow passage for the funeral procession sends a strong message of brotherhood and harmony in society.
