  • Maharashtra is once again showing the country the direction of green transportation!
  • Unveiling of a full range of electric trucks from 7 to 55 tons
  • Environmentally friendly and economically beneficial transportation

Tata Motors Electric Trucks: “Today is not just the launch of a new electric truck, but also a significant milestone in India’s green and sustainable transport revolution. Maharashtra is the first state in the country to formulate a separate policy for battery and electric trucks, and Maharashtra is once again showing the country the direction of green transport,” asserted Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik.

Tata Motors unveiled India’s first fully battery electric truck range from 7 to 55 tonnes. Speaking on this historic occasion, Minister Sarnaik said that the Maharashtra government has taken the initiative to create a conducive policy environment for the electric vehicle industry. The state’s EV policy is opening up new opportunities for vehicle manufacturers, industry and the transport sector.

“Designed and developed by Indian engineers in Pune, this electric truck is a great example of the concepts of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Self-reliant India’. The strength of Indian expertise, technology and manufacturing capability is evident in these vehicles,” said Sarnaik.

Environmentally friendly and economically beneficial transportation

Electric trucks will not only reduce pollution but will also help in reducing fuel costs and overall operating costs of transporters. This will make the transport business more cost-effective, competitive and sustainable, he expressed his belief.
“The Hon’ble Prime Minister has set a target of ‘Net-Zero’ by 2070. Electrification of the transport sector is very important to achieve this target. Electric trucks are a crucial step towards that,” he added.

Range up to 350 km; Fast charging will increase productivity

The key features of this electric truck are a range of up to 350 kilometers on a single charge, fast charging facility and low operating costs. With charging completed in less time, the truck can run on the road for longer and the productivity of the transporters can increase.
“This truck is not only environmentally friendly, but will also be a more profitable, reliable and economical option for the transporters and drivers. The direction of the future of commercial transportation is now clear,” said Sarnaik.

Promoting government-industry partnerships

Along with Maharashtra’s EV policy, electric mobility is being promoted through the Central Government’s PM E-DRIVE scheme. He said that effective partnership between the government, vehicle manufacturers and transporters will lead to rapid growth in the use of electric commercial vehicles in the country.

Electric mobility will create massive employment and skill development opportunities not only in the automotive industry but also in battery technology, research and development, manufacturing, charging infrastructure and vehicle services, Sarnaik said.
“Today, we are not just launching an electric truck, but are paving the way for a future of a clean, self-reliant and sustainable India. Maharashtra will not only be a part of this transformation, but will also lead it,” said Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik.
