Flagging off the 2.4-kilometer-long Tiranga Yatra in Gandhinagar, the Chief Minister called on people to join the campaign in large numbers. He said the tricolor symbolizes the nation’s unity, integrity, and patriotism, and every citizen should play their part in furthering its honor and glory.
Organized by the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation and the district administration, the state-level procession began at the G-6 Circle and ended at the Akshardham Temple. A large number of students, youth, and locals participated, carrying the tricolour.
‘Tiranga Yatra’ is being organised across the country from 9th to 17th August with the aim of encouraging citizens to contribute to the country.
Addressing the people before flagging off the procession, the CM said the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign has been launched to celebrate India’s hard-won independence and remember the sacrifices of the freedom fighters.
He said that Tiranga Yatra is a symbol of unity and integrity of the country and citizens participating in it with the tricolour in their hands and patriotic spirit in their hearts will contribute to the vision of ‘Ek Bharat-Shrestha Bharat’.
“The aim of the Tiranga Yatra is to help today’s generation understand the sacrifices and dedication of the freedom fighters, draw inspiration from their lives and promote the spirit of ‘Nation First’,” Patel said.
He asked citizens to use this opportunity to reaffirm their resolve to build a developed India by 2047. “We have an opportunity to dedicate ourselves to the nation and take India to new heights of glory, and this opportunity must be seized with the resolve of ‘Nation First,'” the Chief Minister said.
The procession included cultural programmes, performances by the police band and Nashik dhol, while the ‘Daredevils Show’ of the Gujarat Police Department attracted the attention of the people.
Gandhinagar Mayor Meera Patel described the national flag as a symbol of the country’s pride, unity, integrity and bravery.
He said, “The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign is instilling the spirit of patriotism among the citizens and called upon those involved to strengthen the resolve of ‘Nation First’ and reiterate their commitment to national unity and integrity.”
The tricolour was a major attraction in the 2.4-km-long procession that passed through the state capital.
