Lucknow. Bus facilities in Uttar Pradesh are set to improve in the coming days. Premium bus stations will be developed at 18 locations as part of a plan to revamp the state’s transportation system. These projects are being implemented through private investment.
The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation has initiated the tender process for the second phase of this project. The proposed bus stations will be developed with modern passenger amenities and will also provide ample space for commercial activities within their premises. This could enable bus stations to emerge as major transit and business hubs in future cities.
18 cities will get the benefit of modern bus stand
The plan covers 18 locations across the state, including Akbarpur, Amethi, Badaun, Bhinga, Gonda, Balrampur, Basti, Gola, Sidhauli, Mati, Unnao, Haidergarh, Nahtaur, Sarai Akil, Badshahpur, Tarawa, Pilibhit, and Nichlaul.
New infrastructure will be created through private investment
These projects are planned to be developed on a public-private partnership (PPP) model, which means the private sector will participate alongside the government transport system. According to officials, the 18 proposed projects are expected to attract investments of more than ₹1,100 crore.
Business space will be available along with the bus station.
The new plan highlights that the bus station will not only be a place for passengers to board and disembark. Commercial space can be developed within the complex to accommodate shops, food and beverage outlets, hotels, offices, and entertainment facilities, as needed. This will provide passengers with a variety of essential services in one place.
Opportunity to submit tender till August 10
The deadline for submitting tenders for these projects is 2 pm on August 10, 2026. Interested investors can check the terms, conditions, and other details of the tender on the Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation and the state’s e-tender portal.
