New Delhi .The curiosity among the audience about Nitesh Tiwari's much awaited film Ramayana is continuously increasing. After the initial visuals of the film were released, it is also being compared with Om Raut's film Adipurush, released in 2023. The story of both the films is to Ramayana, but there is a lot of difference in their visual treatment, presentation of characters and the way of showing the mythological world on screen.

Ranbir Kapoor is seen in the role of Lord Ram in Ramayana, while Sai Pallavi will be seen in the role of Sita. On the other hand, in Adipurush, Prabhas played the role of Ram and Kriti Sanon played the role of Sita. The audience's expectations regarding the lead characters in both the films have been different and the scenes that have unfolded have also made clear the difference in their presentation.

The visuals of Ramayana appear relatively calm, divine and cosmic in impact in the scenes involving Lord Vishnu. It depicts a four-armed Vishnu form with a chakra and a lotus amidst a blue aura. Adipurush also featured a grand sequence involving Vishnu, but the presentation there appeared to be more VFX based and had huge animated structures.

The style of both the films is different in showing the relationship between Ram and Sita. In the scene unfolding from Ramayana, the story of Ranbir and Sai Pallavi seems focused on simplicity and emotional closeness. Whereas in Adipurush, Prabhas and Kriti Sanon were presented with a more dramatic and CGI based background.

There is a big difference in the designing of the character of Ravana in both the films. Ravana of fame in Ramayana is seen with traditional royal influence, golden attire and grand Indian style. In Adipurush, Saif Ali Khan's Ravana was presented in a relatively dark and modern villain look.

The visual treatment of Ramayana appears more down to earth in the war scenes. There seems to be an effort to keep the dust, weapons and movements of the warriors close to the real environment. The use of dark colors and heavy VFX was more prominent in Adipurush's battle scenes, giving its world a gaming or animated visual feel.

The technical style of the two films is also different in the presentation of Kumbhakarna and other demonic characters. In Ramayana, giant characters are shown in association with the natural environment and elements like fire and smoke. Whereas in Adipurush, a more fantastical and dark environment was created through the palace, walls and lighting.

The difference is clearly visible even in the scenes involving Ram's bow and arrow. In Ramayana, Ranbir's Ram form is seen in a calm and restrained posture, whereas in Adipurush, Prabhas' character was presented in a more aggressive and modern action style.

Even in the scenes to Sita's exile and abduction, Ramayana appears to emphasize traditional Indian beauty and simplicity. Sai Pallavi's look has been kept modest, whereas Kriti Sanon's scenes in Adipurush featured more use of dark colors and CGI effects.

The costumes of Ram, Sita and Lakshman during their exile also reflect the viewpoint of both films. Cotton saffron clothes, Rudraksh and simple appearance are seen in Ramayana. In Adipurush, relatively modern designs and different textures were used in his costumes.

In this way, despite the basic story of both the films being based on Ramayana, their cinematic language appears different. The visuals for Ramayana seem to focus more on traditional Indian beauty, natural environment and spirituality, while Adipurush tried to present the mythological story through modern VFX and fantasy style.
