If you’re looking for a quick homemade treat that can be stored for several days, gond laddus are a great option. Today, we’re sharing an easy recipe using just five ingredients, with the key being proper roasting of the gond. Let’s learn the complete recipe.

Just 5 ingredients for Gond Laddu

For this easy recipe, you’ll need edible gum, wheat flour, ghee, powdered sugar, and dried fruits. Almonds and cashews are ideal. You can add a little cardamom for flavor.

Ingredients for Gond Laddus

  • 1 cup edible gum
  • 2 cups wheat flour
  • 1 cup desi ghee
  • 1 to 1.25 cups powdered sugar
  • Half to three-quarters cup chopped almonds and cashews

How to make Gond Laddu

First, fry the gond.
Heat some ghee in a pan. Be careful not to overheat the ghee. Now, add the gond in small amounts and fry over medium-low heat. As soon as the gond is in the oil or ghee, it will begin to puff up and become crispy.

Avoid adding all of the gond at once, as it can swell and increase significantly in size. Transfer the fried gond to a plate and let it cool. Then, crush it coarsely.

Toast the flour over low heat.
Now, add the remaining ghee to the same pan and add the wheat flour. Toast the flour over low heat, stirring constantly. Don’t rush this step. Well-toasted flour gives the laddus a wonderful aroma and flavor.

When the flour turns a light golden color and the pleasant aroma of ghee begins to emanate, turn off the heat. Let the mixture cool for a few minutes.

Mix the gum and dried fruits.
Now add the crushed gum and chopped almonds and cashews to the roasted flour. Mix everything well. Then, when the mixture is slightly lukewarm, add the powdered sugar.

After adding the sugar, mix the mixture well. Be sure the mixture isn’t too hot, or the sugar may melt and change the texture of the laddus.

When the mixture is warm enough to handle, apply a little ghee to your hands. Take small amounts and press them between your palms to form round laddus .

If the mixture seems too dry and the laddus are not holding together, a little lukewarm ghee can be added. Place the prepared laddus on a plate and let them cool completely.
