New Delhi. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will answer in the Parliament regarding the police lathicharge on student protesters in Delhi. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju gave this information in the Lok Sabha on Monday. He told the opposition that the government’s side has to be heard and there should be no ruckus in the House during the reply, nor should there be any running away from the House. However, the government has not yet given any information about the day and time when Amit Shah will speak on this issue in the House. The opposition is continuously demanding an answer from the Home Minister in the House regarding the police action on students during the Parliament march on July 20. The monsoon session of the Parliament also started on the same day.

Opposition MPs protested in Parliament on Monday over the issue. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra stated that the opposition’s protests would continue until the Home Minister returned to the House and provided answers. Congress has also issued a whip for its MPs to be present in the House on August 10, 11, and 12.

Meanwhile, four important bills were introduced in the Lok Sabha on Monday amid opposition uproar. These include the Tribunals Reforms Bill, 2026 and the Mines and Minerals Development and Regulation Amendment Bill, 2026. However, the government’s future strategy regarding bills to women’s reservation, delimitation, and the FCRA amendment remains unclear. None of these bills were included in Monday’s Lok Sabha agenda.

The Constitution Amendment Bill on Women’s Reservation and Delimitation provided for 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha from 2029 and for increasing the number of seats through delimitation. The bill failed to advance in the Lok Sabha in April due to a lack of two-thirds support. The monsoon session of Parliament is scheduled to end on August 13.
