Tezzbuzz Desk – Consumers across the country are being continuously made aware of the need for Aadhaar e-KYC for LPG connections. Consumers whose biometric e-KYC hasn’t yet been completed are being advised to complete the process as soon as possible. Many customers are also receiving messages asking them to complete their e-KYC before August 16th. Therefore, if your LPG connection’s e-KYC is still pending, don’t ignore it.
However, failing to complete e-KYC doesn’t necessarily mean that every customer’s gas connection will be canceled outright. However, eligible subsidies or LPG- benefits may be affected. Therefore, it’s best to check your e-KYC status in a timely manner.
Will gas cylinders stop being available if e-KYC is not done?
The biggest question regarding e-KYC is whether cylinder bookings will be stopped if Aadhaar authentication isn’t completed on time. There’s a difference between a pending e-KYC and a permanent gas connection being suspended. If your e-KYC is pending, the relevant oil company may ask you to complete the authentication. In some cases, this could impact subsidies or other benefits. Therefore, any official communication from the company should be taken seriously.
Why is e-KYC necessary for Ujjwala beneficiaries?
Aadhaar authentication is especially important for beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive the LPG subsidy only if their records are properly updated. If you are an Ujjwala Yojana beneficiary and your biometric e-KYC has not yet been completed, please check its status by contacting your nearest LPG distributor.
How to do e-KYC from home using mobile?
Many LPG customers can now complete face-based Aadhaar authentication via their smartphones. Use your gas company’s official mobile app.
Indane Gas: IndianOil ONE App
Bharat Gas: Hello BPCL App
HP Gas: HP Pay App
Face authentication may require the Aadhaar FaceRD app. After logging into the app, select e-KYC or Aadhaar authentication. Enter the requested information and complete the face scan process. Upon successful authentication, your e-KYC may be updated.
You can also get e-KYC done from the gas agency
If you’re having trouble completing e-KYC via your mobile phone, you can visit your nearest authorized LPG gas agency for biometric authentication. In many locations, e-KYC may also be available through the biometric devices available with delivery personnel. However, this facility depends on the distributor’s arrangements. Therefore, contact an authorized gas agency instead of any unknown individual.
Beware of fraud in the name of e-KYC
Beware of cyber fraud in the name of LPG e-KYC. Do not click on any unknown links and do not share your OTP, bank details, UPI PIN, or other sensitive information with anyone. Only use the gas company’s official app or an authorized LPG distributor for e-KYC.
What if e-KYC has already been done?
If you’ve already completed your Aadhaar biometric e-KYC, there’s usually no need to repeat the process. However, if you receive a message from the company asking for a repeat e-KYC, please check your status through the official website.
