Tabu gets major relief from High Court in personality rights case, orders to remove objectionable content against the actress

Actress Tabu had approached the Delhi High Court seeking protection against the use of her photos, videos, voice, or other personal rights without her permission. However, the actress has now received significant relief in this personal rights case. The court has issued a unilateral interim injunction against the use of Tabu’s name, image, voice, and photographs.

Actress Tabu gets major relief from Delhi High Court

According to ANI, the Delhi High Court has banned the misuse of actress Tabu’s identity. The court has also ordered the removal of AI content from several platforms, including Google, Meta, X, and Reddit. The court has ordered the removal of over 150 pieces of content. However, the court has also clarified that this order also prohibits unauthorized use of artificial intelligence, deepfakes, face morphing, and other digital technologies. Hearing the petition, Judge Jyoti Singh ordered several major digital platforms to remove or block access to all photos, videos, or content posted by Tabu without her permission.

What did Tabu say in the court petition?

Hearing Tabu’s petition on personality rights, the court ordered certain platforms and domain service providers to disclose basic subscriber information and IP log details to those accounts or content. The court issued this order in response to Tabu’s petition seeking protection in matters to her personality and publicity. Tabu alleged that fake event-booking accounts were being sold without permission. Furthermore, she alleged that pornographic content created using AI was being exploited for commercial purposes. The court acknowledged that if she is not granted interim protection, she could suffer irreparable harm.
