Devastating earthquake in Colombia! The magnitude of the tremor was 7.4 on the Richter scale. However, no casualties have been reported so far in the earthquake.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) said a strong earthquake struck Colombia at 7:34 a.m. local time on Monday. The epicenter was about 5 kilometers east of San Jose del Palmar in the Choco department of Colombia and at a depth of about 107 kilometers. However, no tsunami warning was issued so far. The earthquake was so strong that the tremors were felt as far as the Venezuelan border. Nubia Carolina Cordoba-Curry, the governor of the Choco region, said that several people were injured in the devastating earthquake in Quevedo, Colombia. Many houses and buildings were damaged. There were also reports of partial collapse of some houses.

Colombia is one of the most earthquake-prone countries in South America. Due to its location on the border of several tectonic plates and close to major fault systems, earthquakes occur frequently in various parts of the country. According to the Colombian Geological Service, the country has already been hit by more than a hundred destructive earthquakes. Such strong earthquakes have been seen especially in the Andes region, the eastern foothills of the Eastern Cordillera, and the Pacific Ocean region.
