‘Vande Mataram’ will resonate at the Red Fort for the first time, the 80th Independence Day will be dedicated to the youth.

The main ceremony, scheduled to take place from the ramparts of the Red Fort on August 15th, will see a change in protocol this year. According to the Ministry of Defense, the national anthem “Vande Mataram” will be played for the first time upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival at the ramparts. The Prime Minister will then hoist the tricolor and play the national anthem.

Defense Secretary gave information about the program

Defense Secretary RK Singh, while detailing the new sequence of events, stated that this time the established protocols for the ceremony will be followed differently. Upon the Prime Minister’s arrival at the ramparts of the Red Fort, all those present will stand during the national anthem. This will be followed by the flag hoisting and the playing of the national anthem.

There will be special focus on youth

This year, special emphasis is being placed on “youth power” during the Independence Day celebrations. The celebrations are planned to highlight the achievements and contributions of the country’s students and young citizens. The government is focusing on highlighting the talent, innovation, and role of youth in the country’s development. According to the Ministry of Defense, youth in different parts of the country are experimenting with new technologies and innovations. From startups to space technology, young engineers and entrepreneurs are exploring new possibilities.

With the help of innovation and prototyping centers like Hyderabad-based T-Works, many young startups are turning their ideas into real products. Some young engineers are developing low-cost space technologies and addressing challenges like space debris.

During a media interaction, Defense Secretary RK Singh was asked whether the special focus on youth at the Independence Day celebrations was a decision made in light of recent youth protests. He clarified that this was not the case. He said that the plan to highlight the achievements and contributions of youth at the Independence Day celebrations was already in place and had no connection to any recent protests or other events.
