August Bank Holiday List: The second week of August 2026 has started. In such a situation, let us know which days the banks will remain closed this week. Between August 10 and August 16, banks will remain closed for three days in different parts of the country due to regional festivals, Sunday weekly holiday and Independence Day. For the information of customers, let us tell you that during these holidays, digital banking services like internet banking, mobile banking, UPI and ATM will remain operational, but banking services in the branches of SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and other banks will not be available at some places on these dates.

• August 13 (Thursday): Banks will remain closed in Imphal due to 'Patriot's Day'.
• August 15 (Saturday): Banks will remain closed across India due to 'Independence Day'. There will also be a holiday of Parsi New Year (Shahenshahi) on this day.
• 16 August (Sunday): Weekly holiday for banks across the country.

Apart from this, for your information, banks will remain open on 11, 12 and 14 August.

When will banks remain closed?

Except for the regional holiday in Imphal on August 13 and the nationwide holiday on August 15, banks will remain open and function normally in most parts of the country on August 10 (Monday), August 11 (Tuesday), August 12 (Wednesday) and August 14 (Friday). If customers are in Imphal or planning to conduct any banking transactions around the Independence Day holiday, they are advised to complete any branch work well in advance.

RBI divides bank holidays into three main types:

• Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act – These affect check clearing and branch-based banking services at the national or state level.
• RTGS Holidays – Days when Real Time Gross Settlement transactions are not processed through the bank branch.
• Bank Account Closing – Usually this holiday is observed on 1st April for annual account closing.
