BJP’s protest by burning tires in Ranchi
BJP workers have taken a stand in the capital Ranchi to protest against lathicharge on students. Bandh supporters burnt tires on the road near Nucleus Mall and raised slogans against the government. Traffic on the road was affected for some time due to the protest. Security arrangements have also been increased at the spot and the administration is keeping an eye on the situation.
Ranchi-Patna road jam in Ramgarh
Ramgarh district BJP leaders and workers came out on the streets since morning in support of Jharkhand bandh. Activists blocked Ranchi-Patna road at Kuju Nayamod fourlane junction. BJP leaders say that this bandh has been called in protest against the police action taken on students. Due to the demonstration, vehicular movement on the main road was affected.
Widespread effect of bandh seen in Giridih
Widespread impact of Jharkhand bandh was seen in Giridih district also. BJP workers remained active from city to rural areas. A procession was taken out from Jhanda Maidan in the metropolitan area at around 9:30 am. During the demonstration, vehicular movement came to a halt at many places and some private schools also remained closed. The main road was blocked in Birni, while a large number of workers took to the streets in several areas including Dhanwar, Jamua and Bagodar. District President Ranjit Kumar Rai accused the government of ignoring the demands of the students and resorting to lathi charge during the agitation.
Helpline for students coming from other districts
In view of the ongoing student agitation in Ranchi, the district administration has issued a helpline number for the safe return of students coming from other districts. According to the administration, this initiative has been taken to facilitate the students who had reached Ranchi to join the movement and to send them home safely. Most private schools of Ranchi closed
Following the Jharkhand bandh called by the BJP, most of the private schools in the capital Ranchi have decided to remain closed on Tuesday. The school management has informed the parents about this. Due to the bandh, regular classes will not be held in these schools on Tuesday.
Student on hunger strike after lathicharge made allegations
A student sitting on hunger strike during the student movement has made serious allegations regarding the police action. According to the student, Tuesday is the ninth day of his hunger strike and the police action during the assembly gherao has hurt the students a lot. The student claimed that the protesters were raising their demands peacefully and did not indulge in stone pelting or indecent behavior. His allegation is that after the barricades were broken, the police instigated the students and tried to scare them. The student said that if the government does not listen to their demands, then how will the agitators convey their views to the government. He appealed to the government to seriously consider the problems of the students.
