He alleged that L Khiangte's arrest was done to save the big fish. The MP said that the main demand of the students is a CBI investigation into the entire matter and the government should hand over the matter to the CBI for a fair investigation.
On the arrest of L Khiangate, Vishnu Dayal Ram said that he feels that this action has been taken to save a big fish. He said that there is a continuous demand from the students that the entire case should be handed over to the CBI.
Students should also have confidence that the investigation will be conducted in a fair manner. Even in such circumstances, not handing over the investigation to CBI indicates that something is wrong.
Vishnu Dayal Ram also targeted the government regarding the demonstration of students in Ranchi and the lathicharge by the police. He said that the students' protest was peaceful and the students had already announced that their agitation would remain peaceful. Despite this, barricades and barbed wire were installed at the protest site.
The use of such wires is usually seen in sensitive areas like the India-Pakistan border. He questioned to what extent it was justified to use barbed wire to stop students from his own state. Calling it a serious question on the attitude of the government towards the students, he said that such action does not seem acceptable.
On Union Minister Kiren Rijiju's statement that the government is ready for discussion in Parliament and Home Minister Amit Shah will reply on the issue of lathi charge during the protest at Jantar Mantar, Vishnu Dayal Ram said that the government has always been ready to reply in Parliament.
It has been put on the table of the House many times that the government is ready to discuss and answer on every topic. The government does not shy away from answering on any issue. Parliament is a platform for democratic debate and the government is ready to present its views on the issues raised there.
Vishnu Dayal Ram also reacted to the continuation of the students' agitation in Jharkhand despite the government announcing an investigation, taking action against officials and accepting three resignations by the Governor.
CBI can investigate the case thoroughly and impartially. If the investigation is handed over to CBI then action should be taken against anyone found guilty, no matter how prominent the person is.
Vishnu Dayal Ram also reacted to Congress issuing a three-line whip to its Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs ahead of the discussion on the FCRA Bill. He said that this is an internal matter of the Congress Party.
When a bill comes to the House, all aspects should be discussed in detail, so that different views come to the fore and only then the process of passing the bill can proceed.
Vishnu Dayal Ram also commented on the incident of alleged sloganeering and mud and slippers being thrown on her car during the visit of former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal. The BJP MP said that this incident is the result of widespread anger among the public.
