New chapter of gaming in Mumbai

Mumbai: Video games are no longer just a means of entertainment, but it has become an important means of earning and career for the youth. Esports have brought a new twist to the world of gaming. In this context, a great news has come for the gaming lovers of India. Krafton, the maker of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), has announced a massive gaming tournament in Mumbai, where players will get an opportunity to showcase their talent and win crores of rupees.

Prize pool of Rs 2 crore and two major tournaments

Crafton has shared information about two big tournaments back-to-back on its official Instagram. The total prize pool of these two events is Rs 2 crore. The name of the first tournament is 'Battlegrounds Mobile India Shutdown 2026' (BMDS 2026). After its successful completion, 'Battlegrounds Mobile India International Cup 2026' (BGMIC 2026) will be organized, in which Indian players will get a chance to play against foreign gamers.

BMDS 2026: Competition among 48 teams

48 teams will compete against each other in the first tournament (BMDS) to be held in Mumbai. This will be an 'Invite Only' tournament, which means that only select teams that have excellent gaming records will be invited. The quarter-finals of this tournament will start from 22 September and continue till 13 October 2026. Subsequently, the top qualifying teams will compete for the title at the Grand LAN Finals from 16 to 18 October 2026.


BGMIC 2026: International competition

After the competition between domestic players, the real thrill will be seen in the international tournament. A total of 16 teams will participate in the 'Battlegrounds Mobile India International Cup', which will include 6 teams from India, 5 teams from South Korea and 5 teams from Japan. This international competition will also be held in Mumbai from 30 October to 1 November 2026. Crafton aims to promote eSports in India through such big events, so that the youth who want to make a career in gaming can get a big platform.
