Automobile Desk: Mahindra is preparing to launch its popular lifestyle SUV Thar (3-door) in a new and state-of-the-art avatar. According to reports from the automobile world, the company may unveil this new model of Thar around August 15 during its traditional 'Freedom Drive' program. Although the basic off-roading character and strong structure of the vehicle will remain the same, this time its interior, safety features and cabin are being given a luxury look to a great extent.
This time, the biggest change in SUVs can be seen regarding safety standards. There are speculations that the new Thar will be equipped with 'Advanced Driver Assistance System' (ADAS). Recently, camera setups have been seen on the windshields of vehicles seen during testing. With the advent of this technology, the vehicle can get features like automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, forward collision warning and adaptive cruise control. This update will put the vehicle at par with Mahindra's recently launched Thar Roxx and Scorpio-N in terms of safety.

Customers will get a new and hi-tech experience as soon as they step inside the cabin. The existing analog cluster can now be replaced by a 10.25-inch fully digital TFT instrument display. In this, apart from speed and fuel meter, important alerts like navigation, off-road data and tire pressure will be visible on the screen directly in front of the driver. Apart from this, for music lovers, it is said to be provided with a premium audio system from Harman Kardon, which will make its sound experience great.
Keeping in mind the long journeys and hot weather, Mahindra is going to offer ventilated front seats in the 3-door Thar for the first time. Thar lovers were demanding this feature for a long time. Along with this, the traditional manual air conditioner will be replaced with automatic climate control, which will automatically control the cabin temperature. These small changes will make the interior of the vehicle very comfortable and premium class.
If we talk about the exterior look, the iconic boxy profile of Mahindra Thar will be retained, but new design elements will be included in it on the lines of Thar Rock. It can be seen with a new front grille, round LED projector headlamps with C-shaped DRLs and a redesigned front bumper. New 5-spoke dual-tone alloy wheels can be given in 18-inch side profile and 19-inch for top variants. There is a possibility of getting new LED taillights and a new bumper at the rear of the vehicle. Overall, Mahindra is taking a big step towards making this powerful SUV a family-friendly premium vehicle along with a rugged style.
