Bhadohi: In Hindu religious tradition, Shravan month has been given special importance for the worship of Lord Shiva. In this month, different forms of Mahadev are worshiped on Shivalinga along with Jalabhishek, Rudrabhishek and chanting mantras. In religious beliefs, there is a deep spiritual and philosophical connection between the crematorium-dwelling form of Lord Shiva and the practice of Shravan month.

However, going to the crematorium and doing sadhana is not considered a necessary religious ritual for ordinary householders. Such practices are associated with specific traditions and practitioners.

The Mrityunjaya form of Lord Shiva is also associated with the spiritual desire of freedom from death and its fear. In the religious tradition, the story of Markandeya Rishi is considered important in this context, in which there is mention of his victory over death by the grace of Lord Shiva.
