The Indian team won the bronze medal in the Men's Quadrant event of the prestigious King's Cup Sepak Takraw Championship held in Thailand. India's journey reached the semi-finals where it faced the hosts and Thailand, one of the strongest teams in the game. The Indian team had to face defeat in a thrilling match that lasted three sets, but its bronze medal was confirmed as soon as it reached the semi-finals. The King's Cup is among the most prestigious international tournaments of Sepak Takraw. It started in 1985 in Bangkok. The title of the first edition was won by Malaysia but later Thailand established its dominance in this competition. India won its first gold medal in the Men's Regu event in the International Sepak Takraw Federation World Cup held in Patna in March 2025. This was a very important achievement in the history of Indian Sepak Takra and it greatly boosted the confidence of the players.

After this, in 2026, India achieved another big success. India won the gold medal by defeating host Japan 15-10, 12-15, 15-12 in the Men's Quadrant Final of the Asia Sepak Takraw Championship held in Nagoya, Japan in May. In this competition, India defeated Malaysia and South Korea in the group stage. After this, he made it to the finals by defeating strong Thailand in straight sets in the semi-finals and then became the Asian champion by defeating Japan.

Now the King's Cup bronze is another strong sign for the Indian team. The 2025 World Cup gold, the 2026 Asian Championship gold and now the King's Cup bronze show that Indian Sepak Takraw is rapidly making its mark at the international level.
