Recently, Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel has finally addressed rumours about her alleged return as Sakina in They drive 1947. Besides Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta, the film also features Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, and several other actors in pivotal roles.
Many fans believe Preity Zinta’s look resembles Ameesha Patel’s iconic Gadar character, Sakina. While Ameesha responded gracefully to the comparisons, she has now addressed a viral post claiming she is reprising the role. The actress clarified that she is not involved in Batwara 1947 and is not playing Sakina.
“Woh Preity Zinta Hai Yaar”: Ameesha Patel Reacts to They drive 1947
Ameesha Patel was recently spotted in Mumbai, where a paparazzo video caption quickly caught everyone’s attention online. “Batwara: Ameesha Patel and Sunny Deol return as Sakina and Tara, bringing back the iconic duo.” The actress quickly corrected the post, writing a clarification immediately afterward. “Dude, I’m Sakina for Tara in our brand Gadar and not Sakina for Sunny in They drive 1947. Woh Preity Zinta hai yaar, main nahi (That's Preity Zinta man, not me).”

Recently, Ameesha reacted to a social media user who claimed Preity Zinta was copying her iconic Sakina character. The fan wrote that the Batwara trailer made it seem as if Preity was trying too hard to recreate Sakina’s magic from Gadar. The user added that some characters remain unforgettable forever. Ameesha responded to the comment, acknowledging the fan’s observation publicly. “Woh bhi bahut khoobsurat hai bhai. Sakina wishes her the best. Tara ka dhyaan rakhna till he’s not back to where he belongs (She’s very beautiful too, brother. Sakina wishes her all the best. Take care of Tara until he returns to where he belongs).”
