New Delhi, 11 August 2026: On the first day of the Commonwealth Under-23 Fencing Championship held in Lagos, Nigeria, India performed brilliantly and won a total of 17 medals, which includes four gold, four silver and nine bronze medals. This competition, which started on Sunday, will continue till August 14.
In men's saber competition, Nikhil Wagh won the gold medal and Lakshya Badsare won the state medal. Ashwini Arya and Laishram Moramba won bronze medals. In men's foil competition, Tejas Patil won the state medal and Hemash Sanas won the bronze medal. In men's AP competition, Lokesh Vemani won the state medal, while Shaurya Ashwini and Godwin Ankbase won the bronze medal.
In the women's category, Joyce Ashita won the gold medal and Kanak-Lakshmi won the silver medal in the foil competition.
Prachi Lohan won the gold medal in the 'Épée' competition, while Nivedhya Nair and Anupriya won the bronze medal. In the 'Sabre' competition, Jefferline won gold, Akhri Sharma won silver and Shreya Gupta won bronze.
