Ganeshotsav 2026 Special Buses : The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is gearing up to facilitate the journey of laborers going to Konkan for the upcoming Ganeshotsav. The corporation has taken a big decision to release as many as 5,220 special surplus ST buses to various districts of Konkan from three important divisions of Mumbai, Thane and Palghar for this year’s Bappa festival. This special bus service will be officially launched from September 7.

Direct ‘Village to ST’ and Group Reservations

The ST Corporation has opened a special ‘group reservation’ facility from August 10 to enable the servants to go together to their rightful villages. If at least 40 passengers from the same village or same circle make a demand together, they are being provided a bus directly at their convenience. This facility will help to stop the rush of tickets that happens every year. Due to this, passengers will not need to go to main bus stations. Ganeshotsav 2026 Special Buses

Major departure stations will be ‘Hee’ in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar

These special trains will be released from major depots and temporary bus stands keeping in mind the peak rush of employees.

• Mumbai Division : Mumbai Central (Main Depot), Paral, Dadar, Kurla Nehru Nagar, Borivali (National Park), Sion, Chembur and Interstate Bus Stations.
• Thane Division : Thane Central Depot, Vandana Talkies Bus Stand, Bhayander, Kalyan, Dombivali, Vitthalwadi and Bhiwandi.

ST buses will reach ‘these’ major places in Konkan

These special buses will ply the Mumbai-Goa highway and other internal routes to the main talukas of Konkan and from there to internal villages.

• Ratnagiri District : Ratnagiri town, Chiplun, Khed, Dapoli, Guhagar, Sangameshwar, Lanja and Rajapur.
• Sindhudurg District: Kankavali, Kudal, Sawantwadi, Malvan, Vengurla, Devgad and Vaibhavwadi.

Special arrangement on highways for easy travel of passengers

Vehicle repair teams have been deployed at various places on the Mumbai-Goa highway to avoid traffic jams and possible vehicle breakdowns. Also ST help desks will be open 24 hours to assist passengers at main line stops at Pen, Mahad, Mangaon, Chiplun, and Kankavali in Konkan. Ganeshotsav 2026 Special Buses

Continuation of discount on passenger fare for women and senior citizens

Various concessions of the government will be applicable in this year’s special campaign as well. Under ‘Mahila Samman Yojana’, women will get 50 percent discount on passenger fare. Also, senior citizens between 65 to 75 years get 50 percent discount, while Amrit senior citizens above 75 years can get the benefit of free travel. To stop the fare increase and extortion by private travel operators during Ganeshotsav, ST Corporation has put a record number of buses on the road this year. Servants should not succumb to the lure of any unauthorized agents or brokers. The senior administrative officers of ST Corporation have appealed that the passengers should book their tickets in advance through MSRTC Official Portal or by using the ‘MSRTC Bus Reservation’ mobile app for a safe and smooth journey.
