Big relief to Gautam Adani from American court, criminal case of bribery-fraud dismissed; Said- faith in justice remains intact

New Delhi. Industrialist Gautam Adani has got a big relief in the criminal case going on in America. The US District Court of Brooklyn has dismissed the criminal charges against him to bribery and fraud. The court gave this decision after the US Justice Department appealed not to pursue the case further.

However, before ending the case, the court asked the Justice Department the reason for this and also clarified whether any kind of agreement or deal was made with the Adani side in exchange for withdrawing the case. After the situation became clear from both the parties, the court formally ended the case.

The court had asked for the reason for ending the case

US District Judge in Brooklyn nicholas garaffis Prosecutors had presented a demand to dismiss the case. Instead of directly approving the request, the court asked the Justice Department why it did not want to proceed with the criminal case.

The judge also asked the Adani side to clarify whether any promise, transaction or other agreement was made in exchange for ending the case. After this, after the situation was clarified by both the parties, the court allowed the prosecution to end.

    Adani said- trust in justice process remains intact

    After the court's decision, Gautam Adani welcomed it. He said he accepts the verdict with humility and respects the American judicial process.

    Allegations of bribery and fraud were made in 2024

    In 2024, US authorities filed charges against Gautam Adani and his associates for allegedly planning to bribe government officials to get approval for a solar energy project in India.

    US prosecutors also alleged that American investors were misled about information to the company's anti-corruption policies.

    Adani Group had rejected these allegations from the beginning and denied involvement in any wrongdoing. In this case, Gautam Adani did not appear personally in the US court to answer the charges.

    Matter to policies of Trump government

    US Department of Justice 18th May had announced that he would not pursue the case further. This is being seen as another example of a series of decisions to end high-profile cases in President Donald Trump's second term.

    Adani had mentioned an investment of 10 billion dollars

    The court had sought clarification from both the parties regarding any kind of agreement in exchange for ending the case. Lawyers for the Justice Department and Adani told the court that no such agreement had been reached.

    15th July Gautam Adani also clarified in his affidavit filed in America that he 10 billion dollar investment but he was not aware that this was part of a deal in exchange for dropping the investment case.

    In this way, after the decision of the US court, the ongoing criminal case against Adani has ended for the time being.
