Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast has taken another big step towards strengthening its presence in the Indian automobile market. The company has secured the official design patent of its premium electric maxi-scooter Rasad in India by filing it. Launched globally in early 2026, the scooter will form part of the company’s growing two-wheeler portfolio in India, which includes the already patented Viper scooter and Sulad concept motorcycle.

Combination of sporty design and powerful performance
The patent filing makes it clear that VinFast is planning a big entry in India’s performance-oriented electric scooter segment. Rasad’s look is quite muscular and angular. It has a large front windscreen, polygonal LED headlights with signature V-shaped DRLs and an underbone chassis. For better road grip and high-speed stability, it has been provided with 14-inch alloy wheels and wide tyres.
According to leaked reports, Rasad will be provided with a centre-mounted electric motor which will generate peak power of 7.1 kW. Its top speed will be around 100 kmph. Hardware features include telescopic forks at the front, twin shock absorbers at the rear and disc brakes on both wheels for safety. Apart from this, it will also have a digital console with Bluetooth connectivity and navigation support.

Market impact and competition
VinFast will assemble its electric two-wheelers in India through the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route. For this, the manufacturing plant located in Thoothukudi (Tuticorin) of Tamil Nadu will be used. After its launch in the Indian market, Rasad will compete directly with maxi-style scooters like Ather 450X, Keeway Vieste and Yamaha Aerox E. It is expected that the company can officially announce its commercial launch by the fourth quarter of 2026.
