The Mahindra BE6, first launched in November 2024, is set to get another update this August. The carmaker has now put out a teaser announcing the name of the updated BE6 and showing glimpses of it. It will be called the BE6 SPORTEQ.
The BE6 SPORTEQ will be an improved version of the BE6. The BE6, we know, is a sporty electric SUV. It has an aggressive styling and a tech-heavy cabin. The underpinnings and powertrains are already familiar to most people. More about that later.
The SPORTEQ aims to improve the experience. As the name suggests, it is likely to put more technology and features into the electric SUV while retaining its sporty character and aggressive styling.
Mahindra’s latest teaser confirms that the vehicle will launch on August 15th. It also shows some key areas of its design. The exterior styling is likely to remain largely unchanged. The lighting signature and some of the exterior trims may get minor updates. The teaser shows a Black-painted roof and rear spoiler. Most of the body panels remain unchanged.
The video also shows some details of the interior design. The seats will have BE6 badges, the dashboard layout will be familiar and the overall material quality and finish will improve. The biggest change, however, is that the SPORTEQ will get a triple screen cluster similar to what we see on the XEV twins.
The regular BE6 and BE6 FE lack this feature. They come with two 12.3-inch screens, one of which is the central touchscreen and the other is the instrument cluster. The SPORTEQ will add a third screen to the cluster. This will likely be a 12.3-inch unit as well, although Mahindra is yet to confirm the same officially. This will function as the entertainment touchscreen for the front passenger.
The video teaser shows glimpses of this display. It seems to have been integrated well to the overall design. The clip also shows the digital driver’s display. It seems to be identical to that of the outgoing car.
The rest of the features are likely to remain the same as the standard BE6. The higher variants come with 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos ( the SPORTEQ could see the addition of Dolby Vision), wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, panoramic glass roof with integrated lighting, Level 2 ADAS suite, 360-degree camera, dual-zone climate control, ventilated seats and several other features.

Although it is not clear in the video teaser, the SPORTEQ is likely to delete the ‘halo’-like element that separates the driver’s area from the front passenger area. This move is intended at improving practicality. The halo looks cool but isn’t the most practical thing to have in daily use. It limits the driver’s access to the front passenger area to some extent. The deletion seems to be addressing this concern.
The design of the centre console could also be revised. It is likely to come with more storage areas and better-designed physical controls. Since these aren’t shown in the video, we can’t be too certain.
Another big change will be the upholstery. The SPORTEQ is likely to get a new upholstery that looks and feels better than before. All these changes show just how seriously Mahindra as a company, take customer feedback and work towards improving their products and widening their appeal.

The BE6 SPORTEQ will be based on the same INGLO platform as the regular BE6. This modular skateboard platform is quite versatile and can support various top hats. The regular BE6 and BE6 FE come with two battery options- 59kWh and 79kWh. The XEV 9S, if you remember, offers a third battery option- 70kWh with a claimed range of 600 km. This unit is likely to be introduced on the SPORTEQ as well. We have long been waiting for this battery to be rolled out on the XEV 9e and the BE6 family, and the SPORTEQ’s launch could finally be the moment.
The 59kWh version has 228hp and 380Nm on offer while the 79kWh version makes 281hp and 380Nm. The latter can do the 0-100kph sprint in just 6.7 seconds and the vehicle is only available with rear wheel drive (RWD).
