Automobile Desk: The Indian automobile market has now become completely global, where vehicles liked all over the world are running on the roads of the country. Kia Seltos is also one such popular mid-size SUV, which is sold in India as well as in the Chinese market. Although, at first glance, the Seltos of both the countries appear similar, but if we look at their features, engine and cabin setup, there is a huge difference between the two.

In terms of size and dimensions, the Seltos available in both India and China markets are almost similar. The Seltos sold in China has a length of 4,460 mm, width of 1,830 mm, height of 1,640 mm and a wheelbase of 2,690 mm. The size of the Indian model has also been kept exactly the same. However, there is a difference between the two in terms of boot space. The Chinese model has a boot space of 483 litres, whereas the Seltos available in India has a boot space of only 447 litres. The main reason for this difference in boot space can be attributed to the spare wheel offered in India.

Talking about cabin and features, more premium setup is seen in the models available in China. There, this SUV has a 27-inch ultra-wide screen, which includes the option of passenger entertainment along with infotainment. Apart from this, a 10-inch digital cluster has been provided separately for the driver. At the same time, the Seltos sold in India has a Trinity Screen setup, in which a separate 5-inch screen is provided for climate control along with driver display and infotainment screen. The Indian model does not have a front passenger screen like the Chinese one. Apart from this, the China model has extra features like 100W Type-C charging port, heated front seats and heated steering wheel, which are not available in the Indian variant. However, the models in both countries have similar safety features like panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, wireless charging, 8-speaker Bose sound system and level-2 ADAS.

There is a big change in both the models in terms of engine and performance. 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine options are available in the Chinese market. Both these petrol engines are available in India too, but here an additional option of 1.5-litre diesel engine is also given to the customers.

If we look at the power output, there is a big difference between the turbo-petrol engines of both the countries. In China, the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine generates 198 bhp power and 253 Nm torque. In contrast, the turbo engine available in India gives power of 158 bhp and torque of 253 Nm. That means China's turbo model is about 40 bhp more powerful than India's. Whereas, the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 113 bhp power and 144 Nm torque equally in both the countries. Looking at the future, Kia is also planning to introduce a hybrid model of Seltos in India, which is expected to hit the market by mid or late 2027.
