A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Toronto to Dhaka was grounded in Rome due to a technical fault, leaving 259 passengers stranded inside the aircraft for eight hours without air conditioning.
The flight departed Toronto Pearson International Airport at 5:18 p.m. on Aug. 6. After about eight hours in the air, the aircraft made an emergency landing at Rome’s Fiumicino International Airport at 7:20 a.m. the next day after developing a technical problem, Bangladesh’s Dhaka Tribune news site reported.
Passengers said they were kept aboard the aircraft for around eight hours without functioning air conditioning, causing several to feel unwell, Daily Star reported.
After hours of attempts to resolve the problem, the flight was eventually cancelled and passengers were asked to disembark and moved to the terminal.
