PM Albanese Japanese melons : A funny statement by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has now become a cause of controversy. In fact, one of his comments made by PM Albanese on 'Crown Melon' (royal melon) gifted by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is becoming a cause of controversy.
According to reports, a former Japanese ambassador has described the Prime Minister's remarks as 'anti-women' and an insult to diplomatic relations between the two countries.
This whole controversy started after his statements during the comedy podcast 'Bush Deep' hosted by Nikki Osborne.

What did PM Albanese say?
In the podcast episode, Albanese described the crown melons gifted by Takaichi as quite strange, but later said that they ultimately turned out quite nice.

He also made hand gestures near his chest while discussing the gift.
Osborne joked about Takaichi's appearance, saying that she looked like Pamela Anderson.
Albanese responded by saying, “She brought 2 (melons) and they are very beautiful.”

In an editorial written for The Australian, Yamagami highlighted the high value of crown melon in Japan, which costs more than 30,000 yen (about Rs 17,900). Albanese should enjoy the gifts of Japan without making unfair comparisons.

Despite the outcry, PM Albanese has refused to apologize for his comments. He argued that relations between Australia and Japan are stronger than ever under his government.

Opposition leaders have demanded an apology. Liberal MP Mary Aldred described the comments as vulgar and disgusting.
