Former Prime Minister of Pakistan and former captain of Pakistan cricket team Imran Khan is no more in this world. This claim has been made by Pakistani journalist Wajahat Khan quoting his sources. Wajahat Khan, who left Pakistan and is living in London, says that he got information about Imran Khan’s death from intelligence sources of security forces.

Posting on social media, he said that he has received information from senior officials of GHQ (General Headquarters) that Imran Khan is no more. However, he clarified that this is his own (army officers) assessment and he has not seen Imran Khan himself. He says that news like common rumors does not reach the people sitting in GHQ.

What did Wajahat S Khan say about Imran Khan?

Wajahat S Khan said that when you are in GHQ, you are not posted at some distant check post. There are frequent meetings with senior officials, conversations and greetings to each other. He said that GHQ is not a place where some soldier is firing from a distance with a gun.

He said that GHQ is an office, where senior officers like General, Colonel, Captain and Brigadier are present. According to Wajahat Khan, three senior officials indicated in different ways that Imran Khan is no longer among them. He claims that for this reason the Pakistani Army and Army Chief are hiding the situation of Imran Khan from the whole of Pakistan.

Expressing concern over this claim, Wajahat Khan said that if this information is true then the matter is very serious. He hoped that this would not happen. However, he said that these three senior officials have not seen Imran Khan with their own eyes, rather they have heard these things at their level.

Why is Imran Khan in jail?

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan is imprisoned in Adiala Jail of Rawalpindi since August 2023. More than 180 cases are registered against him. Prominent among these are the corruption case to Toshakhana, the 190 million pound Al-Qadir Trust corruption case and terrorism cases to the protests.

Strong demonstration by PTI workers

On Tuesday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had also demonstrated outside the Supreme Court in protest against the health of Imran Khan and the delay in hearing his cases. However, the Registrar of the Supreme Court assured the party leaders that the hearing of the cases to Imran Khan will be fixed next week. After this PTI withdrew its protest. The party demanded the registrar to expedite hearing of Imran’s cases and allow his family members as well as private doctors to meet him.

The Chief Minister said that Imran Khan’s health is not being made a political issue and Imran himself has not used his health condition to get any kind of relief. He said that Imran’s health should be taken seriously. Also, necessary moral courage should be shown to accept the demand for treatment under the supervision of private doctors in the presence of their families.
