Q1 Results 2026: Astral and Sun TV's excellent results after market close, huge jump in profits of both the companies

After the close of trading in the stock market today, two big companies have released their June quarter (Q1 FY27) financial results. Both these leading companies in the polymers and media sector—Astral Limited and Sun TV Network—have recorded very strong and positive performance in the first quarter of the current financial year. Both the companies have seen impressive double digit growth in profits and other key financial parameters, which has created an atmosphere of enthusiasm among investors.

Astral Limited's Q1 results: Huge jump in profits

Astral Limited, a leading company in the polymer piping systems, adhesives, construction chemicals, paints and bathware segments, has delivered a strong performance in the June quarter, meeting market expectations. According to exchange filings, the company's consolidated net profit jumped from Rs 81 crore YoY to Rs 120 crore, much better than analysts' estimate of Rs 116 crore.

Apart from this, the consolidated revenue of the company has increased from Rs 1,361 crore to Rs 1,578 crore, which was around the estimate of Rs 1,588 crore. The company's EBITDA has also increased from Rs 188 crore to Rs 231 crore, which is exactly in line with the market's estimate of Rs 231 crore. Astral's EBITDA margin has also improved to 14.7% from 13.8% last year due to better operational efficiency.

Great performance of Sun TV Network: Margin crosses 50%

Sun TV Network, a giant in South India's media and television network business, has also not disappointed investors in the June quarter. The company has recorded strong double digit growth on all three fronts – profits, earnings and EBITDA.

According to the data, Sun TV's net profit has increased by a strong 16.93% from Rs 529.2 crore to Rs 618.8 crore. At the same time, the total operating income of the company has increased by 13% from Rs 1,290.3 crore to Rs 1,457.8 crore. The company's EBITDA also increased by 18.7% to Rs 735.3 crore from Rs 619.2 crore. The most important thing is that the company's EBITDA margin increased from 48% to 50.44%, which shows the strength of its strong operational control and business model.

Overall, both Astral and Sun TV have had very positive June quarter results, with Astral's profits beating expectations, and Sun TV achieving new highs in margins.
