UP Roadways will run additional buses from 26th to 31st August on Rakshabandhan festival, women will get free travel facility.

Lucknow. Women have been traveling for free in Transport Corporation buses during Raksha Bandhan festival, this time too an order will be issued soon for free travel. The corporation has issued orders to all regional and assistant regional managers to operate additional buses for six days from two days before and after Rakshabandhan.

Raksha Bandhan festival is this time on 28th August. Transport Corporation has started preparations to run buses for this. The corporation will operate additional buses from two days before to three days after the festival i.e. from 26 to 31 August. During this period, a special incentive scheme will be implemented to ensure maximum passenger movement, so that drivers and conductors perform their duties with full enthusiasm.

What instructions were given?

The instructions are that there will be less buses going from Delhi to Ghaziabad, Meerut, Moradabad via Moradabad-Bareilly, similarly the restrictions issued for going from Delhi to Ghaziabad, Agra and Etawah via Aligarh-Kanpur will be reduced. Not only this, if there are 60 percent passengers from the starting point for western areas, additional services will be operated.

Anil Kumar, General Manager (Operations), Transport Corporation: To get 14300 buses 100% on-road, the buses should be repaired from now on. Moreover, the officers and employees of the corporation will not get any leave in six days except in special circumstances. Similarly, all contracted bus services will also be operated. Instructions have been given to set up duty roster in the workshops.
