Tezzbuzz Desk- An emergency landing of IndiGo flight 6E-723 coming from Kolkata was made at Chennai Airport late on Tuesday night. The pilot informed Air Traffic Control (ATC) after a malfunction in the left engine of the aircraft was noticed just before landing. After this, full emergency was declared at the airport.

A total of 224 people including the crew were on board the plane. It is a matter of relief that the plane was landed safely and all the passengers and crew members are said to be safe. There is no information about anyone being injured in the incident.

Engine failure revealed before landing

According to Airport Authority of India officials, IndiGo flight 6E-723 took off from Kolkata for Chennai on the night of August 11. The plane was to reach Chennai at around 11:30 pm.

While preparing for landing, the pilot discovered a malfunction in the aircraft's left engine. Seeing the situation, the pilot immediately contacted ATC and informed about the emergency. After this, necessary preparations were started for the safe landing of the aircraft at Chennai Airport.

The plane landed safely at 11:37

After the emergency was declared, the plane landed safely on Runway 25. According to officials, the plane landed successfully at 11:37 pm. All 224 people on board the plane remained safe.

The full emergency declared at the airport was lifted at 11:47 pm, about 10 minutes after landing. After this, airport operations continued normally and no major impact on other flights was reported.

Investigation into the cause of engine failure begins

At present, the reasons for the technical fault in the left engine of the aircraft are being investigated. The concerned officials are trying to find out what kind of problem occurred in the engine and how it was detected just before landing.

Due to coordination between the pilot and air traffic control during the incident, the plane landed safely. However, the technical fault in the engine has once again drawn attention to flight safety and technical inspection of aircraft.

Turbulence in Air India flight a few days ago

Earlier on August 4, an Air India flight coming from Phuket, Thailand to Delhi was also hit by turbulence. The incident took place near Jharsuguda in Odisha. At that time the plane was flying at an altitude of about 36,220 feet.

Information was revealed that 17 people including the crew were injured due to turbulence. However, the plane later landed safely in Delhi. Investigation into that incident is also ongoing.

Amidst such incidents which are continuously coming to light, the discussion regarding monitoring and technical investigation on aviation safety has increased. There is a big relief in the incident of Indigo flight in Chennai as all the passengers are safe at the moment.
