New Delhi. The splendor of Hareli Tihar, the folk festival of Chhattisgarh, was also seen in the national capital Delhi. Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu celebrated Hareli Tihar with full rituals, devotion and intimacy with the MPs of Chhattisgarh at his residence in New Delhi.
On this occasion, Tokhan Sahu performed rituals and prayed for the happiness and prosperity of the Annadata farmers, good harvest and continued prosperity of Chhattisgarh. He said that Hareli is not just a festival, but a celebration of the emotions to the soil, farmers, nature and rich folk culture of Chhattisgarh.
Remembered childhood by riding a cart
Traditional Gedi was also enjoyed on the occasion of Hareli. Tokhan Sahu refreshed his childhood memories by riding a cart. He said that despite living in Delhi, during this event of Hareli, his mind reached the streets, villages and fields of Chhattisgarh.
He said that this intimate moment of celebrating Hareli with loved ones gives a pleasant feeling of being connected to one's culture and roots.
Celebrated Lok Parva with MP colleagues
On this occasion, MPs from Chhattisgarh including Brijmohan Aggarwal, Roopkumari Chaudhary, Kamlesh Jangde, Bhojraj Nag, Devendra Bahadur Singh, Lakshmi Verma and Phoolodevi Netam were present. Everyone together remembered the traditions of Hareli and shared the happiness of the festival.
Hareli is to farmers, agriculture and nature
Hareli is counted among the major folk festivals of Chhattisgarh. In this festival celebrated on the occasion of Sawan Amavasya, farmers worship plough, hoe, spade and other agricultural tools used in farming. Along with this, there is also a tradition of care and worship of livestock.
In rural areas, there is a special attraction during Hareli, horse riding, traditional games and Sawan swings. Traditional Chhattisgarhi dishes like Jaggery Chilla and Gulgul Bhajiya are also prepared in homes.
