New Delhi, 8 August 2026: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has reacted strongly to a post shared by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on social media regarding women. Rijiju reposted this post and wrote that this seems to be a positive message from the Congress Party. There is a clear change in Rahul Gandhi's thinking towards women, and now I hope that the Congress Party will approve the Women's Reservation Bill without any conditions. Rahul Gandhi had claimed in his statement that the energy of the women power of the country is still suppressed and they do not get complete freedom of expression.
Expressing his views, Rahul Gandhi had said that empowering women should not mean limiting their participation only in business or politics. In her opinion, women should be allowed to move freely within the four walls of the house and in public places without any fear. The Congress leader further added, “Women should have the right to present their views, even if many people do not agree with them. They should be allowed to question their parents, husbands and siblings. If India has to truly move forward, it will have to be freed from the patriarchal mentality and the strict controls imposed on women by men.”
'Let women do the work of their choice'
Answering a question to a girl's right to education, Rahul had said that the women of India are our real strength and biggest asset. He criticized the treatment of women in various sectors of the country, including the education sector and the corporate sector, and said that we have to ensure that women get healthy opportunities to work as per their choice and get equal opportunities.
